Getting Started with Colonial New England Research

Seventeenth-century New England may be one of the most studied eras in genealogy, resulting in a range of resources to help family historians trace their history. In many cases, town vital records, church, colony, court, probate, land, military, and tax records not only have survived, but have been abstracted and published. Rather than reinventing the wheel, family historians should begin their quest with one of the published resources listed in this document.
