Resources for Roman Catholic Research on AmericanAncestors.org
AmericanAncestors.org offers many resources to help you research your Roman Catholic ancestors. Our most popular database for Catholic research is Massachusetts: Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston Records, 1789-1920—which is exclusive to AmericanAncestors.org—but we also have other collections with a broader scope.
In 2016 American Ancestors and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston partnered to digitize the sacramental records of the Archdiocese of Boston. Consisting mainly of baptism, marriage, and confirmation records, these volumes offer a unique glimpse into the lives of Massachusetts Catholics, from their beginnings as a persecuted religious group through their rise in influence throughout the greater Boston area. This continuing project contains records from 1789–1920, with more to be added for at least the next two years. AmericanAncestors.org offers both a free image-only database and a fully searchable database available to our members.
